Lawrence orthopedic surgeon returns to Modern Pentathlon

Dr. Douglass Stull, a Lawrence orthopedic surgeon, was selected as team physician for the 2011 Modern Pentathlon World Cup in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

The event, which was Feb. 24-27, brought more than 180 athletes from 30 countries to compete in epee fencing, swimming, equestrian show jumping, and a combined running/shooting event.

Stull is familiar with the event.

While attending the University of Texas, he competed as a national team member in the sport of modern pentathlon. As an athlete, he traveled extensively competing at the Olympic level.

Stull works at OrthoKansas, where he specializes in treatment of the shoulder and elbow.
