Kickball tourney, spaghetti feed to benefit American Cancer Society

A couple of Relay For Life of Douglas County teams have come up with creative-and-fun ways to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Kickball tourney

Cardiovascular Specialists of Lawrence and The Lawrence Vein Center are having a kickball tournament.

The tourney will be 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in Woody Park, just north of Lawrence Memorial Hospital, 325 Maine.

There will be 16 teams of 7 to 10 players. Cost is $5 per player. If your team wins, it advances in the tourney. The winning team will receive champion T-shirts.

For more information or to sign up, contact Jericho Hilliard at 505-2666, 218-9824 or jericho.hilliard@lmh.org.

Spaghetti feed and auction

The local Rainbow Girls are having a silent auction and $5 all-you-can-eat spaghetti feed.

It will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Lawrence Masonic Center, 1301 E. 25th St. Auction items include an autographed golf wedge, gift baskets, sporting event tickets, homemade desserts, a 2009-2010 autographed KU basketball and much more.

The event is being held in honor of Phil Pell, who died Jan. 6.
